Digital Dark Ages
Abandon Normal Devices (AND) Festival
Treak Cliff Cavern, Castleton, 2017
Located in Treak Cliff Cavern, Abandon Normal Devices wanted to install multiple artworks throughout the cave system, with the addition of an introductory display in the small visitor centre near the cave entrance.
With 80 steps to reach the cavern entry and with 196 steps below ground, high and low points in the cave, and with a constantly wet environment added to the mix, this meant access to site both above and below ground was challenging so clever design and careful planning was required.
Arciform rose to the challenge and ensured that all display furniture was designed to be suitable for the conditions, in addition to being light, flat-packable, and easy to assemble in this complex space. All items were then built in our Liverpool workshop before being transported to site and installed by our dedicated team of technicians.
