London 2012 Cultural Olympiad
Hadrian's Wall, 2012
Arciform was thrilled to be invited to work on this striking artwork for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. We were commissioned to design and prototype the stand for the digitally interactive light balloons. The stands needed to able to withstand the strong Northumberland prevailing winds and harsh environment without disturbing the archeologically sensitive ground.
After prototyping the final design was then fabricated at our Liverpool studio and installed with the lights, balloons and digital receivers along Hadrian's Wall. A challenging install, given the rough terrain and remote access, but more than worth it to see the final result - a visually stunning sight that came to life at night.
